Careers at Capita
The majority of Capita’s business is UK-focused, but it also has operations in Europe, Asia, and Africa, with a global network of over 60,000 employees. As such there are career opportunities in all sectors across the six divisions:
- Software
- People solutions
- Customer management
- Government services
- Technology solutions
- Specialist services
As the company works closely with civil operations such as the NHS, it has a commitment to creating inclusive and responsible business practices, understanding the need for flexibility and individual career development. This includes early career opportunities, access to the Capita Academy for learning and performance development.
Capita Application Process
Capita has two streams for early career applicants: the apprenticeship and graduate programmes. For both programmes, you need to apply online via the vacancies portal, which will show you all available positions.
The next stages include filling out the online application to determine eligibility; online assessments; a telephone interview; and an assessment centre. The type of assessments you will be given is dependent on the role you have applied for, so make sure you pay attention to the specifications of your application to be completely prepared.
Online application
The online application for Capita requires you to fill out eligibility questions and information about the role that you are interested in, so as to determine where to place you. You can add a CV, but it is not necessary.
For the graduate scheme application, you may be asked to prepare longer written answers to some of the questions. You have to apply to a specific stream, so make sure that you have thoroughly researched the role to show Capita why you are applying for this particular one.
If you have an interest in more than one division, you can let the recruiter know during the telephone interview that you would like assistance in choosing the right path for you.
When applying for the apprenticeship, there is a game-based assessment provided by Arctic Shores, which is used to determine workplace competencies.
Employers like to use game-based assessments for early career positions like this as they are a dynamic assessment, which more accurately show skills like how you respond under pressure, how you make decisions, and how you deal with multiple tasks.
Capita Aptitude Tests
Capita verbal reasoning test
Verbal reasoning tests are common in the recruitment process, especially for graduate positions. They are designed to determine your level of skill when processing and analysing verbal information, with the questions ranging from basic comprehension to complex logic reasoning.
Many employers use verbal reasoning to screen candidates, as it demonstrates a certain level of language and communication skill, which is necessary for success in the workplace.
Capita numerical reasoning test
For jobs in sectors such as finance, technology, and business consultancy, numerical reasoning tests are used to assess your level of skill when working with numbers. The questions will cover concepts such as basic arithmetic, interpreting data from graphs, and applying logic to form the correct conclusions.
These tests give employers an insight into how you will perform on the job tasks that involve working with numbers and processing information. As these tests are timed, they also show employers how well you work under pressure and manage your time.
