Interviews
Comcast’s application process is rigorous and competitive. The process starts with you selecting the job you want to apply for, and, if you make it to the final stages, ends with an interview with a senior member of staff.
The candidate profile you create at the beginning of the application process can be used for other roles you may wish to apply for at Comcast, so it’s important to spend time making sure it’s accurate and reflects the breadth of your skills and experience.
At every stage of the process, try to make sure you’re selling yourself and your skills. Ensure you think about how your individual strengths will benefit Comcast, and get prepared for the various different exercises you’ll be asked to do along the way.
Comcast online application
The first stage of the process is the online application form.
The form is designed to gather as much information as possible about you, so a Comcast recruiter or hiring manager can determine if you have the relevant skills and experience to make it to the next stage of the process.
As well as your education and qualifications, you’ll need to share details on any additional, relevant experience.
Before submitting the application form, check it thoroughly. The form will be your first chance to get in front of Comcast, so it needs to make a good impression. And just as importantly, you may well be asked about any of the things you’ve referenced at any point in the application process.
Comcast Aptitude Tests
All prospective Comcast employees will need to take numerical and verbal reasoning tests. Some roles also require candidates to take a situational judgment test.
However proficient your numerical and verbal reasoning skills are, it’s advisable to practice as many SHL aptitude tests as you can before taking your Comcast assessment. Not only will this help you to improve your speed and accuracy, it will also ensure you feel more confident on the day, since you’ll know what to expect.
Comcast SHL numerical reasoning test
The SHL numerical reasoning test uses tables and graphs to analyse your understanding of basic numerical principles such as fractions, ratios and percentages.
All of the questions are multiple choice, but don’t be fooled into thinking this makes the test easier. You’ll have to work through the challenges at pace, and if you want to make it to the next stage, it’s important to work each problem out rather than just guess the answer.
Comcast SHL verbal reasoning test
The SHL verbal reasoning test requires you to read through a short passage of text, before answering questions on what you’ve just read. This challenges your comprehension, as well as your communication and analytical skills.
You’ll be asked to respond to the questions by selecting either ‘true’, ‘false’ or ‘cannot say’. So ensure you’re clear on the difference between what’s been stated and what’s merely been inferred.
Comcast situational judgment test
Situational judgment tests are designed to assess how aligned your values and actions are to that of the company you’re applying to work for, as well as to gain a better understanding of your working style.
You’ll be given a series of statements covering different aspects of the Comcast role you’re applying for. You’ll be asked to select the response that best reflects your reaction from a list of options.
It’s important to be honest when you answer, but it doesn’t hurt to reflect on the type of person Comcast is likely to be looking for, based on the job description.
There are no ‘right’ or ‘wrong’ answers on a situational judgment test, as it’s all about individual human response. However, there are certainly answers that align more closely to the values and viewpoint of Comcast, and it’s likely that people who have responded in this way will be taken to the next stage of the process.
If you do make it through this round of the application process, you’ll be invited to interview.
